Robin KingsleyHow wonderful be asked to design and stitch a WHOLE book about Santa Claus! That jolly old elf can be imagined so many ways. I had a terrific time playing with Santa and even more fun drawing and stitching the projects in Just Be Claus!

I created holiday projects you can enjoy in your own home or give as welcome gifts to family and friends. There are big and not-so-big projects to keep you busy right up until Christmas.

One of my favorite projects is the Oil Can Folk-Art Santa, which is mounted on a vintage oil can so people can admire the stitching on the front and the back.

Oil Can Folk-Art Santa embroidery
Add tiny buttons and jingle bells to complete this one-of-a-kind, three-dimensional centerpiece.

The Portraits of Santa Table Mat gave me the opportunity to add extra-decorative embroidery, plus an old button or two to finish.

Portraits of Santa table topper
How fun would it be to have Santa join you for a mug of hot chocolate?

Counting down the days until Christmas is SO important! Make your own colorful Christmas Countdown complete with chalkboard fabric and a pocket to hold your chalk.

Christmas Countdown embroidery
A Christmas Countdown to remember!

These are just three of the 24 special designs you can make in Just Be Claus. I wonder which will be your favorite design?

Santa Claus is quite the versatile character and will entertain you ALL year as you get ready for the holiday. In the book I also share my favorite tips and tricks for:

  • Transferring embroidery designs to fabric
  • Learning fun embroidery stitches that add special embellishment to your designs
  • Keeping the back of your embroidery neat (you’ll surprise all those nosy people who always turn over your work!)
  • Giving your embroidery a fine, polished finish

And, of course, there are many FUN embroideries to stitch!

  • 11-20 I think, about 14 if we count the ones I’ve given my kids. But I’m choosy: I prefer the old fashioned looking ones, and Santas as represented in other countries, Pere Noel, Father christmas… I do have an Uncle Sam Santa I keep at work all year round! and a lovely small Santa Lucia ornament for my husband’s Swedish side. Love the redwork, my embroidery these days has kept to the labels on baby quilts, but the wall hanging and the santa centerpiece, would love to do those! Snow Happy is tempting as well, we have several snowmen and I’ve a half finished snowman door hanging somewhere in my stash!

—Sharon Schipper on May 17, 2017

    —Sandy K on May 17, 2017
  • Last year there were no Santas decorating my house. This is because we moved from California to Michigan in April, and had to put almost everything in storage. The woman we’re staying with until we can find a place of our own gave all her decorations to her grown children and spent Christmas with them, so there weren’t any decorations. I am on disability, so it would be wonderful to have the Just Be Clause and fabric to make some decorations for this year.

  • Our Christmas decor includes over 20 images of Santa Claus. From at least twelve tree ornaments(the number expands yearly) to window clings and displays to table linens and wreaths and outdoor displays, our house is filled with the jolly old elf. Of course there is the reading of "‘Twas the Night Before Christmas " as well as numerous recordings singing about Santa. He is the center of holiday celebration. This is not to say that our focus on the true Christian meaning for the holy season is devoid of the Nativity. We balance both to double our joy

I also have a quilted wall hanging of Santa and his reindeer that I made several years ago and one of an old time Santa that I made many years ago when I was first learning to quilt. They range from an inch to 3 feet, salt & pepper shakers, pins, hand craved necklaces, figurines, wall hangings, quilts, and use only Santa’s to decorate the tree. I use them in every room and even keep a small tree up in my sewing room throughout the year. I treasure an antique Santa that opens to hold candy and a pewter pin. I always love to share.

Thank you for this opportunity to win some of Robin’s beautiful designs.

  • 1-5 Santa’s. To be exact I have one, a Santa kneeling to the Christ Child. When our children were small we made the choice not to have Santa as we wanted our children to focus on the true reason of Christmas. Now they are grown and have children of their own and their families do have Santa. I am not saying what we did was wrong but they both want their children to have Santa. I have bought and made Santa’s for them. The first being a Santa kneeling to the Christ Child. If I were to win this I would enjoy making the projects for Grandmama’s little ones! Thank you for the chance. I have many of Robin’s patterns and always enjoy making them up. Redwork is such a joy to do!

My favorite is a 2 1/2 foot one made with ceramic face and many other wonderful additions – his coat is made of a beautiful red plaid wool that I made into a skirt for myself in h.s. and still loved the material so incorporated it in this piece of joy and made with love Christmas display item. This new book looks like a delight and one that would bring many hours of joy creating the finished product. Be so fun to be a winner of this offer. Thank you for sharing with your followers.

  • I have several patterns of yours and trouble with only one. Precilla helped me with and said she had no trouble with the design, so I returned the pattern and got a refund for the pattern. Since then I went to a Florianni retreat and the lady there told me what to try and it worked great I used no. 60 thread and a Schmetz chrome embroidery needle size 130705-E-of 75/11. I had the design on my machine and tried it. It works good on the machine now. This is a brand new Brother Dream Machine 2 and I was afraid to sew the pattern because it made such a loud clunk on the dots. This was the only pattern I ever had problems with and now the problem is solved
    thank Precilla fot me.
