Moda Giggles fabric giveaway

FABRIC GIVEAWAY ALERT!

Our friends at Moda have generously donated a delicious stack of “Giggles” fabric from Me and My Sister Designs to give away to you! Find out how you can win it at the bottom of this post.

Barbara Groves and Mary JacobsonWe are so excited about the debut of our newest book with Martingale!

Mary (right) and I (left) have been collecting and designing quick-and-easy quilts for many years. We used to design them when we owned our quilt store. Since we started designing fabrics for Moda in 2004, we have continued the tradition of giving our customers quick-and-easy ideas for using our fabrics.

I have to admit, when piecing I have a very short attention span! I usually can’t wait to finish so that I can start another new quilt! How many of you are like me? The thrill seems to be in the planning and buying…then I want it done FAST. Mary has more patience than me and likes a challenge now and then.

The quilt patterns in our latest book were originally sold individually. They’ve been so loved that we decided to publish them together in a book. Now you can have the complete collection in one place!

Quilts 1, 2, and 3 are super simple and are meant for anyone to conquer.

Easy as 1 quilt
“Easy as 1”

Quilts 4, 5, and 6 incorporate a stitch-and-flip technique, along with sewing strip sets and simple blocks.

Quilts 7, 8, and 9 feature half-square triangles made into Pinwheel blocks, plus additional strip sets.

Easy as 7 quilt

Finally, quilts 10, 11, and 12 include Rail Fence blocks, charm squares, and stitch-and-flip techniques within a block.

Easy as 8 quilt

Me and My Sister DesignsSimple quilts are just as beautiful as the ones that take forever to make. We hope you like the new book and that it inspires you to be creative with fabrics!

  • Simple patterns like that are just what I need to make quilts for Project Linus. My youngest son received a quilt from them when he was in the hospital as a premature infant, and now that I’ve started quilting I am anxious to give back/pay it forward by donating quilts to this great organization. Simple, easy to make patterns will make that a fun reality!

Since everyone knows that I am a quilter, I get many requests for shower gifts for the moms-to-be and of course, I can’t turned down a single one. Since I have had so many requests in the past year, I have turned to simple, easy "1,2,3″ patterns to be able to knock out these fun projects! Still have two babies coming at the holidays, so winning the "giggles" Moda fabric would be a welcome! Oh, well…off to begin the "last" (?) two! Surrounded by joy, diapers and cooing in Maryland…

  • If I were to win, I would make two adorable quilts for my adorable twin nieces who were just born in June. There were complications during pregnancy and both of them had to spend quite a while in the hospital before coming home. Now that they are home, they are doing well, but still are very tiny. They are identical, but their mom and dad are determined to let them be individuals and don’t plan to dress them in matching outfits. So, even though their quilts will be similar, they will have some definite differences so that little Hannah and Grace will know that each of them are special to their Auntie. The Giggles fabric would be perfect for the quilts for these two tiny blessings from heaven.

I would give her the 1-2-3 quilt easy #10 as a simple thing to repay all the kindness she gives others and she never ask for anything in return….What a wonderful surprise it would be for her.

  • My baby brother (ok, he’s 47 now, but always my baby brother!) was recently diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. His surgery went well, but the chemo is very, very hard on him. I’ve made him a big quilt, but he told me how cold his legs get while he is getting the chemo treatments…and how depressing it is. I think one of these quick quilts made from these bright & cheerful fabrics would be the perfect size to be used by him during his treatments, not to mention helpful in lifting the spirits of all the other chemo patients.

I know, it seems like a baby quilt for a girl is the natural use for these fabrics, but I really think this is a very good use for such bright colors and patterns!

    —Gina on September 19, 2013
  • Quick, easy and bright – for children who have no quilt!! Like so many other quilters, it’s a joy to give a quilt to a child who REALLY would appreciate one for their very own. Blessings to you cute ladies – you are generous with all of us out here.

  • I love "Easy as 4″! I’ve purchased some fabric to make a quilt for my great niece for Christmas, and haven’t chosen a pattern yet. I wanted it to be pretty, but also easy enough to convince her that quilting need not be overwhelming. She is almost ready to let me teach her, but she is worried that it is too difficult. I’m confident that if she sees a beautiful quilt that is beginner-friendly, she will be the newest (and youngest) quilter of our family!

  • I would make a quilt for the Zonta annual auction in my town of Corvallis, Oregon. Zonta’s mission worldwide is to raise the status of women. Every year the women of the local club raise over $60,000 by hosting a gala auction and sumptuous dinner. The money raised provides scholarships to women (often single mothers trying to finish their education) and provides grants to local nonprofits providing assistance to women and girls. Locally made beautiful quilts are highly prized and bring a significant amount of money each year. I’d love for you to help me help this worthwhile mission.

Our mission is to provide quilts to children in hospitals, to first responders for children affected in emergency situations, for special needs children and other organizations requesting help. I believe the patterns in the featured books and fabric line would be an inspiration to the quilt membership to create more quilts no matter what their skill level or time limitations might be. I am glad to have received the newsletter from the Martingale-shop. So I’m able to answer on your todays question.

    I like your quilts “easy as 1, 2, 3”.

I’d like to sew a quilt for a very nice colleague. She’s expecting a baby in the coming winter. She waits very long to get a chance for this. I’l hope, the baby and she endures all good.

I’d like to surprise her, when the baby is on this world and keep fingers crossed for her. Please do this, tooo!! Thanks.

Now I hope the winning of today will ‘fly over the ocean’ to me in Germany.

Have a nice day, many thanks

As easy as 8 would be perfect for her little boy and I think she deserves a quilt too!

If these two facts match up, I was a customer at their quilt store and absolutely loved their designs. I still make a table runner pattern all these years later. Congratulations on your new book! Congratulations on your success! RH

  • I sew with a church quilting & sewing circle for the Rainier School here in Washington State for the disabled. The "students" live at the school and work in a Thrift Shop that helps offset costs incurred. The students have little to nothing of their own…I can see the latest book being an instant success to our sewing circle and the Moda stack being a "Gift from Heaven" for some very needy students.

  • Our bee (and our GUILD) makes a lot of community quilts for children going through crises or families in need. I love your patterns, as they are bold and beautiful, but easy to piece….all musts for a great charity quilt! I am in LOVE with the Easy as Ten pattern, and I could see making a number of these for our community quilt project.

Last year, our bee challenged another bee in our guild to see who could make the most quilts. We ended up donating something like 50 quilts between us (actually, I think the number was higher, but I didn’t want to quote it wrong).

Thnks for your quick, easy and BEAUTIFUL designs!!! I would love to win and challenge another bee this year!!!

I love quilting for family and will continue to do so far a long time to come. Recently one of our foster kids who aged out came back for a visit she wrapped up on a quilt and said, I’m taking this home wiht me. I couldn’t part with that particular quilt but know if need to make her one to feel and know the comforts of home wherever she is.

  • I’ve been quilting since 1995 – birth of my grandson! – and have been making quilts for friends and family since. One of my very BEST friends hasn’t gotten one yet – she’s never asked but I can tell by the look on her face that she wants one. My trouble has been that I can’t decide on fabric or pattern – because she is so special to me. Now you’re giving Moda fabrics away, which I have just recently discovered and love, love, love it! I think this would be a perfect combination for her quilt – and today is her 71st birthday!

I have some of these designers’ previous collections in my stash that would be perfect to whip up some of these quickie quilts. Very nice. I would maybe put aside 1 baby size for future gifting, and make a large version for my son, then me and my husbands.
Thanks much for holding this giveaway,

  • If I won this fabric I know I would create a quilt for the children’s ward of the hospital where a child is going through some really bad illness. I may also raffle it off at my garage sales I have to raise money for someone within my community who is struggling with a bad illness. Not everyone is as lucky as myself to have health insurance with my job as I do and I know how expensive it can be since there have been fund raisers in my community for such causes. To give back to those who need makes me feel good and teary eyed as well.

  • I would make my mom an "Easy as 1, 2, 3!" quilt. She is going through radiation treatments for cancer which has showed it’s ugly self on my mom’s face. She keeps up a good front to everyone, but I know that she is scared and is hurting. I would love to have the opportunity to make her a quilt from the "giggles" fab and with one of your recipes. We used to try new quilts and designs together, but since this ordeal, she has been unable to do much of anything. I would love to wrap her in giggles every time she just needs a great big happy hug!

  • I want to do a few baby quilts for the Pregnancy Resource Center for the girls that are having babies and need all the help that they can get. This Center does not offer the option of abortion and helps the girls with other options such as keeping their babies or adoption. PRC also helps them with spirituality and asking God for help. I think this is a very worthwhile resource for the community.
