  • I just love house blocks but I must say I’ve only made one wall hanging. I don’t take a lot of time to quilt for myself. Most of my items are given away for comfort, mostly to cancer patients. OI do want to change that. I’ve been seeing so many that different bloggers are doing that I’m going to have to jump right in. I think I would do houses in the country, since I live in the country.

I live on the Navajo Nation and neighborhoods tend to have unique characteristics…the 27,000 square miles are mostly rural with clusters of homes, based on family units. Daughters bring their families to her parents’ land. Sons go to their wives’ family land. Most homes have a wood stove for heat with a black round smoke stack. They face east to welcome the morning sun.

Have lived in Houston and Dallas for years now, and as I remember life in a small town, I’m still happier in the bigger cities. I have made house quilts for Ronald McDonald house. This would be a new twist on those quilts.

  • House blocks are as favorite of mine & I love embellishing them, you know, a little DIY yo bring some into this century.

I am in the process of making small but not miniatures for our Children’s Hospital. By making the small ones each room can have one for a Wall Hanging. Some of the patients want their dog, cat, bird, etc added; they get such a kick from explaining their quilts to visitors, & the hospital staff.

When traveling, we always drove through the big cities rather than around them as most people would do to avoid the stop-and-start traffic – just so he could see the buildings. He now lives in Atlanta where he gets his fill of the bright lights and skyscrapers every day.
