  • I just got a new embroidery machine so I am making lots of things. I made up several things for my daughters to give their friends. I really like that zipped wine bag. That would be a great gift for several people. That is different from any I have seen. My grandson got married this year so I made lots of ornaments for their tree. His wife is interested in learning to sew! Christmas is a time to let people know how much you love them and nothing says I love you like making something with your own hands. Merry Christmas to all of you.

  • Almost every recipient on my gift list gets something handmade. The love included as I make these things is my true gift.

  • Ten snap bags!

  • yes I am making handmade gifts for Christmas. I had to, to get rid of some of my stash. Two Texas Ranger’s quilts, 1 sloth quilt, 2 pillow cases, 8 place mats, and one chicken quilt complete my list. I plan on making about 40 pincushions for next year. I need to get started soon.

  • A lot of my presents this year have been home-made! Super hero capes for my 2 grand-daughters, snack mats for the grand kids, Princess felt ornaments, and princess sleeping bags. Table runners for friends, cloth napkins, ornaments for everyone and "bowl mats" for the dogs and cats in the family. I know I am forgetting something! Everyone loves getting my home-made gifts!

  • Sewing (have actually already sewn) four small gifts this year: two mug rugs, a pillowcase, and a gift card holder. No big projects needed to be tackled (whew!).

  • I made 4 handmade gifts this year. Sometimes more and sometimes less, depending on how much time I have. Plan to start next year’s handmades soon so I can get done. Would love one of those books. Thanks Gracie

  • Sadly none this year as my Mother passed away unexpectedly and this has really upset me and my schedule this Christmas.

We’re so sorry to hear that, Janice. Wishing you a happy holiday. –Jenny

  • I think about 10, I made some pot holders, 3 mini quilts, a few aprons and mug rugs. Wish I had time for table runners. I also made a Christmas quilt for myself! You know, always make sure you remember yourself!

  • Pillowcases are always a winner with my grandchildren and great-granddaughter. This year I made 15 of them which included some for my best friend’s grandchildren – I love mixing and matching the fabrics especially the flannels. I also made three sets of elf dolls (my youngest granddaughter calls them ‘stuffies’) and I’m working on binding three fleece blankets – everyone loves getting handmade items especially something soft or cuddly! I love the idea of the dog bed – I have some spare foam so I think I’ll whip up one for a granddog.

  • No handmade gifts this year. Has been a very challenging autumn and winter so far emotionally. I think making things would make it easier but has been hard to push myself to do so.

    —Nancy on December 21, 2018
  • Over the summer and fall I stitched up a stack of ‘self binding’ blankets and tucked them into individual ziplock style bags with care instructions. This week I delivered them to The Shelter, a transitional housing program for women and their children in Kaneohe, Hawaii. Because I am fortunate to have more than I need in this life.

    —Jo Malmstrom-Okita on December 21, 2018
  • Zero, what a slacker eh? I moved this summer and havent gotten it together yet. Cute ideas here. Thanks!

—Lisa Timmer on December 21, 2018

    —Celine K. on December 21, 2018
  • I’ve made a wall hanging (from my stash) which is always a bonus! 4 mug rugs, 4 pillow cases for the grandkids and just finished up 3 little bags for new headphones the grandkids received early for Christmas. Love all the fun ideas here!

—Marilyn McGrath on December 23, 2018
  • I made 40 pillowcases for distribution at the assisted living home, plus 3 more for a friend’s grandchildren. A table runner + pot holder for a great niece, cabled stocking hat for my husband (why didn’t he tell me 2 months ago that he’d like to have one?), doll clothes for my granddaughter. There will be a few more projects in January for my adult nieces…to get around the family agreement that we wouldn’t exchange gifts between the adults. And I won’t be up late on Christmas Eve finishing any of the projects! A first.

—Pearl Dennis on December 23, 2018
  • This year I have made a quilted panel for my husband, a table topper to give away at the family party, and a cuddle quilt featuring the Grinch to decorate our couch on Christmas Day. Not counting the 2 queen-size quilts that still need quilting or another table topper that I hope to finish before next Christmas.

—Linda Towers on December 23, 2018
