  • The candy! All of it. I love the flavor combination of candy corn and salted peanuts. I try to call it trail mix, but it’s hardly that.

  • My favorite thing about Halloween is trick or treating. Seeing the kids in costumes and so excited to get their treats is the best!

  • Everything, especially the colors and food (candy).

  • Absolutely love this holiday!!! To the point of having my own red head Halloween witch daughter
A number of years ago!!! She made sure she came before noon so she could celebrate the holiday!!!
The trio of pumpkins just calls out to be a center of a magical quilt!! The wool bags remind me of the older paper mache
German decorations from the German candy store in my neighborhood. But the Oscar winning piece is the magical quilt at the end!!! Talk about a show stopped— this could grace my humble castle any day !!!

  • The magic watching the young children in their costumes trick and treating in the twilight, leaves blowing, smells of autumn.

  • Hallowe’en means crisp cool air, the excitement of staying out after dark, and of course, candy!

    —Jetta on October 5, 2018
  • The kids in their costumes, scary or cute, is my favorite. However, close behind is the fact that it is my husband’s birthday – and we have a lot of fun with that!

    —Kathy on October 5, 2018
  • I like dressing up to hand out the candy at the door. It’s fun to have a day to be dressed as something I’m not (like a construction worker for example). The kids get a kick out of the different costumes that I wear. The best one? SANTA! No kid expects him to answer the door, and it certainly makes their behaviors quickly change from bratty to behaved. You’re welcome, parents.

  • This sounds stupid, but my favorite part of Halloween/fall are the different colors in the leaves of trees.

    —Teri D. Gailey on October 5, 2018
  • I love having the little kids come to the door to trick or treat. We always give "prizes"- small toys or pencils or small Play Doh containers- as well as candy, and the kids (and their parents) remember our house from year to year because of that. The reaction of the kids is my favorite part of Halloween.

—Dottie MACOMBER on October 5, 2018
  • Don’t really celebrate Halloween but I sure do like the candy!

    —Wendy on October 5, 2018
  • The smell of campfires, crispy leaves (and the colors) and grinning pumpkins

    —Lena T on October 5, 2018
  • I like seeing all the funny costumes.

—Linda Christianson on October 5, 2018
  • For years I have given a Halloween Party for my kids and grandkids. We have home made chili with homemade bread, spiced cider and pumpkin pie. The decorations are fun. We do things like tying donuts to a string and putting the on a broom handle. We hold them up high and the kids have to try and eat them with their hands behind their backs. Great memory makers.

    —Marsha on October 5, 2018
  • I love the silliness of the season and the excuse to act like a kid. I decorate, I plan, I bake, I craft. I enjoy it all!!!

—Geri Alper on October 5, 2018
