  • Hats, hats, and more hats! I can’t quite get booties to look right (can’t do socks, either) and blankies are gorgeous but take a long time. So it’s hats for me, er, for the baby!

  • I really like blankets – I have the time now so I can make some more intricate blankets – and oh, such lovely bright colours these days. Thank goodness the days of pastels only is over!

  • I love making hats, but blankets come in second, if I have enough time and the pattern keeps me engaged. Booties are in last because making them is cute but they rarely stay on a baby’s foot and it seems a wasted effort that most new mother’s rarely use.

  • I prefer to knit hats. The booties, one will always get lost, so I knit them
socks. Hat’s, they can wear for a year or better depending on the style and yarn used.

  • I don’t knit much for babies anymore. Depending on the mother would determine the project. An Aran knit baby sacque for a mother who would appreciate and take care of, not for one who would throw it in the washer willi-nilli and then dump at a yard sale.

I have this book and it has cute projects. I made the little cupcake hat and couldn’t find the yard specified, so I used a "Neapolitan" yarn. It was cute. She’s 3 now, so I wonder if it still fits (it was a little big when I sent it).

  • Blankets, hats and then booties… booties are too much like socks which frustrate me. Sounds like I need to take a class or too, doesn’t it!!?

  • Booties and hats, because they are quick, even though I have been a knitter for over 10 years I have never made a blanket. I would rather make a quilt and knit a hat and booties.
