Pathways quiltWelcome back to Stitch This!—and greetings, 2013! The turn of the calendar gets us looking back at the year behind us, as well as looking forward to the year ahead. And although some still may not have fully recovered from their New Year’s Eve festivities, we have a challenge for you this week—a two-part Quirky Question!

What was your biggest triumph last year—and what would you like your biggest triumph this year to be?

Post your answer in the comments before noon (PST) on Monday, January 7, for your chance to win. The winning comment will be posted on Wednesday, January 9, along with the next question.

The last Quirky Question was, “What’s the most memorable gift you’ve ever received?” Here’s the winning response:

“The year my mother and sister came to our home for Christmas for the first time, I was caught up in making sure everything was perfect. After cooking Christmas Eve dinner, I spent hours wrapping gifts and putting them under the tree.

Christmas morning, my husband told me to stand and look at the tree. It took a few moments before I saw what I had missed the night before as I placed gifts under the tree. I had started quilting that year, and he bought dozens of spools of thread in different colors and strung them on a gold ribbon as a garland around our tree.

Through the years he has continued to support my love of quilting in interesting ways. The year he gave me a presser foot, he crafted a small crutch out of balsa wood to go with it. This year, I opened a box with chocolate bars, graham crackers and marshmallows, and underneath that was the kit for the ‘S’mores’ quilt I’ve been wanting to make.

The greatest gift is a husband who supports my interests and who has a sense of humor too!”
