Martingale's Quirky Question

Thanks for stopping by for the weekly Quirky Question—where questions are just for fun, your answers are always welcome, and you could win an eBook for free!

Mocha Stars quilt by Kim DiehlLeft: “Mocha Stars” from Simple Comforts by Kim Diehl (40% off this week only).

Talk to a quilter and it’s likely that there’s one part of quiltmaking that she or he enjoys more than any other. Whether it’s the color choosing, the machine sewing, the hand quilting—or the fabric shopping!—one piece of the puzzle always brings a smile. And that thought leads to this week’s question:

What part of quiltmaking brings you the most joy—and how often do you give yourself time to do it?

Post your answer in the comments before noon (PST) on Monday, April 22, for your chance to win. The winning comment will be posted on Wednesday, April 24, along with the next question. (Knitters, crocheters, and other crafters, answer with your own medium in mind!)

Last week’s Quirky Question was, “How long have you held on to a UFO (UnFinished Object)—and when do you think you’ll complete it?” Here’s the winning response:

“I started a Marsha McCloskey ‘Feathered Star’ in one of her classes three years ago. I was so focused on finishing the project. I got it pieced and was about to begin quilting it when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. In August of that year I had surgery then in October 2010 I began chemo. Five months later I was left with severe neuropathy in both hands so the quilt was put in the UFO stack. I have regained strength (about 80%) in my hands so I am back to quilting now. Our local guild is having a quilt show next month so last month I decided it was time to quilt my Feathered Star. I am cutting the binding today and I will be thrilled to have my quilt displayed in the show.”

Last week’s winning comment was written by Jana. Congratulations, Jana—look for an email about your free eBook.
