Thanks for joining us for our weekly Quirky Question—where the question’s just for fun, your answer’s always welcome, and you could win an eBook for free!

We received many touching and inspiring answers to last week’s question. The winning response was especially poignant, and a few of our other readers commented on it as well.

Last week’s Quirky Question

What inspired you to make your very first quilt or knitted/crocheted project?

 Winning response

My children received quilts after the loss of their brother, our son, on 9/11. The lovely, kind ladies who personally brought these beautiful artworks gave very meaningful expressions of condolence and comfort to my children, and I later decided to pass on the gift of love. My first solo, from my home that was bombarded with media and mourning, was 5 months later to a quilt class. I have spent part of every day quilting for friends, family and charity ever since. The Joshua Reiss Memorial 9/11 Fund has sent quilts to Haiti as well as over 350 to the children of Japan’s disaster. The giving or receiving of a quilt makes the heart happier.

Last week’s winning response was sent to us by Judi. Thank you for sharing your story, Judi. We’ve emailed you instructions on how to redeem your gift.

This week’s new Quirky Question

If a picture paints a thousand words, what are some words that might be painted into a picture of your most recent project?

Post your answer in the comments anytime before noon (PST) Monday, April 30, for your chance to win. We’ll post the winning response Wednesday, May 2, along with the next question. We look forward to reading your answer!
