“Boxing Day” in the mocha color scheme shown is a perfect pattern to have on hand when you’re quilting for men. But because each block uses just two fabrics—a light and a dark—you can easily switch up the color scheme to suit a multitude of occasions. Imagine:

  • Detail of Boxing Day quilthappy brights for a teen girl
  • striking blacks and whites for a teen boy
  • reds, whites, and blues for the 4th of July
  • oranges and blacks for Halloween
  • greens and reds for Christmastime
  • light and dark pinks for Valentine’s Day
  • assorted light and dark prints from your stash—how about batiks, ’30s prints, florals, or novelty prints with fussy-cut block centers?

Of course, you could always go scrappy and see where the design takes you too. With this workhorse of a design, the possibilities are nearly endless!

After publishing more than 40 of her own books that have sold well over a million copies, Nancy knows a thing or two about turning out beautiful quilts in a jiffy. The easy quilt patterns using Jelly Rolls that she designed for Rolling Along are just as versatile as “Boxing Day.” And if you’ve never made “jelly” quilts before, Nancy will show you how to sew a Jelly Roll quilt with ease and efficiency.
